Health Flexible Spending Account (FSA)

*Under the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2020, as further explained in IRS Notice 2021-15, an employer may choose to amend its cafeteria plan to permit, for plan years ending in 2020 and 2021, carryovers of unused FSA balances (with no limit) into 2021 and 2022, respectively

**For the 2021 calendar year, the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARP) increased the amount which may be contributed through a DCAP from $5,000 to $10,500 (or from $2,500 to $5,250 for individuals who are married but filing separately). Employers had the option, but were not required, to increase the election amount on plans they sponsor.

‡ If the family Qualified HDHP plan design includes an embedded individual deductible, the embedded individual deductible must be at least the amount of the required minimum family deductible ($2,800 in 2022) in order to ensure that the HDHP does not begin paying before the minimum family deductible has been
satisfied.
